Difference between how AWS handles companies from South Africa and Turkey from the rest of the supported EMEA companies

What is different between how AWS handles companies from South Africa and Turkey from the rest of the supported EMEA companies?

The key differences in how AWS handles marketplace operations and VAT for EMEA-supported companies versus Turkey and South Africa are significant. For supported EMEA companies, AWS Marketplace purchases are facilitated by Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL, which provides all invoicing and payment services.[1][2] EMEA SARL calculates and charges VAT on purchases for companies located in specific countries like Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, and other supported European nations, provided they have a valid VAT registration number.[1][3] These companies also benefit from SEPA direct debit as an eligible payment method.[3]

In contrast, for Turkey, South Africa, and non-EMEA locations, Amazon Web Services, Inc. remains as the marketplace operator for all purchases and subscriptions.[1][3] This means these companies operate under different VAT calculation and payment structures, as AWS Inc. handles all marketplace operations from its U.S.-based entity rather than through the European EMEA SARL structure.[1]

Additionally, EMEA-eligible sellers receive two separate disbursements: one from AWS EMEA SARL for sales to EMEA buyers, and another from AWS Inc. for sales to remaining buyers.[2][3] This split disbursement system does not apply to Turkey and South Africa, as they operate solely under AWS Inc.’s marketplace structure.[1]
